Moldova previously offered a Citizenship by Investment Program designed to boost its economy through foreign direct investment.

 

The program required a non-refundable contribution starting at EUR 100,000 to Moldova’s Public Investment Fund. Approved investors and their families could obtain Moldovan citizenship, unlocking visa-free or visa-on-arrival travel to over 120 countries, including the Schengen Area, Russia, and Turkey.

 

Although the program is currently suspended, Moldova remains an interesting prospect for future European citizenship opportunities thanks to its geographic location, EU candidate status, and strong ties to both Eastern and Western Europe.

 

Investors who monitor emerging CBI opportunities often keep Moldova on their watchlist for its combination of affordability, European positioning, and straightforward structure.
